Parish notes

Knockbain was also known as Kilmuir Wester and Suddie; Kilmuir Wester was united with Suddie to form Knockbain in 1756 (Watson, 1904, 136). In 1891 various adjustments were made between the parishes of Knockbain (KNB) and Killearnan (KEA): transferred from KNB to Killearnan KEA were: Gallowhill (woodlands, land and croft); Muckernich (houses, crofts and land); Tore (house, shop and land). From KEA to KNB were transferred: Artafallie (part of farm); Ashley (farm, tollhouse); Bellfield (part of farm); Croftnacreich (crofts, houses and land); Knockbain Free Church and manse. For exact details see Shennan 1892, 137-8 (and, of course, O.S. 1edn 6 inch).
