Parish notes
The church of Kingussie along with the chapel of Banchor was granted to Gilbert of Cathcart by Brice bishop of Moray 1203x120. However the version of the relevant charter in Mor. Reg. (no.19) erroneously implies that it was Gilbert who granted Kingussie church to Bishop Brice (see RRS ii no.476 and note), and it is this mistake that is repeated by Cowan 1967, 113. In conjunction with Insh the church was erected into a prebend of Elgin cathedral by Bp. Andrew 1226.. (Mor. Reg. nos. 68, 81; CPL x, 176-7. Ass. 407, 414, 416. Cowan 1967, 113. Church and fair under patronage of Columba, acc. to Anderson 1881 & Reeves 295.
