Parish notes
A mensal churchof the bishopric of St Andrews by 1292 [not 1298, as Cowan has], it appears to have been such by 1274, by which date it was already a vicarage. The annexation continued until its revocation by Bp. Kennedy in 1451 (Cold. Corr. cviii, SHS Misc. vi [= Bagimond], 55; CPL x, 220). For many more details and refs. see Cowan 1967, 128. Dalkeith, Glencorse GLO and Roslin RIX were all pendicles of this church. Cowan 1967, 128. Now includes medieval parishes of Melville MLX and Pentland PLX; Roslin RIX was originally a pendicle, and Glencorse GLO was formerly part of it, created out of it by an act of Parliament in 1647 (APS vi (i), c.273, p.733).
