NGR is of ruins of the medieval parish kirk. The modern Marnoch parish kirk is at NJ596502 (ex info. D. Grannd). In the sixteenth century Aberdeen Calendar the saint's feast is recorded, with remarks about the holiness of his life, the presence of his relic (his head) and the popularity of his cult, drawing people from the whole province 'In Scotia Sancti Mernani episcopi et confessoris apud Aberkerdor Morauiensis diocesis, qui ibidem presentis vite miserias non vrbium delicias non vestium decorem non curialem ambicionem sed horrenda carnis afflictione et pauperum continua cura et sollicitudine diem ibidem clausit extremum. Cuius caput et reliquie vt balsamo odorifere vniuerso illius prouincie populo sanitatis et leticie indies prestant incrementa' (Aberdeen Calendar, 261).
