Notes
The NGR is for the ruined St Cuthbert's Church, q.v. for more detail. This parish / church was originally "the church of Prestwick" (or "the other Prestwick") as opposed to "Prestwick burgh"; Monkton does not emerge as a name until 14th c. As early as 1165 x 1173, both this church of Prestwick and and 'ecclesiam de burgo meo de Prestwic' (i.e. Prestwick St Nicholas) were granted to the monks of Paisley by Walter fitz Alan (Paisley Reg. 6).
