Notes
This was the former parish kirk of Skinnet, before that parish was united to Halkirk. Two early medieval carved stones are associated with this site, one of them a cross bearing Pictish symbols. OSA for Halkirk (xix, 48-9) describes a stone monument already broken in 1796, known locally as 'St Thomas's Chair', close to this church site. It is not clear what this name refers to, and it may be one of the stone carvings referred to here, or another monument. For fuller description of the site and its archaeology see NMRS.
