Notes
Aberdeen Calendar records in the earlier sixteenth century: 'In Scotia Sancti Modani [sic] abbatis apud Fynthre cuius honore ecclesia ipsa dedicatur reliquiisque Modani et miraculorum variorum choruscantibus decorati', implying a fairly full cult of the saint at this church, with relics and probably pilgrims (Aberdeen Calendar, 261). Several medieval carved stones survive in the kirkyard. The church is close to the settlement of Logie (Logy-Fintray 1600 (RMS vi no. 1017b); Logie-Fintrie 1600 (RMS vi no. 1032d)). NMRS: 'The present building now ivy-covered and roofless, was in use until 1703, when a new church was erected at Hatton of Fintray (NJ81NW 26).'
