Note the existence of a settlement called Monkstadt 1.45 km south of this island site. The chapel occupies one of two slightly elevated plateaux in a meadow which was formerly the bed of Loch Chaluim Chille before it was drained, the plateaux having formerly been islands in the loch. On the other plateau stands a cashel withh a causeway (NMRS).
