Notes

NMRS records this as a spring in a cleft in the rock at the foot of a cliff. NMRS also cites a suggestion made in 1978 that this was also known as Our Lady's Well. This is unlikely. The suggestion is probably made on the basis of 'O.L. Weel' shown on Mercator's map of Southern Scotland (1595), and 'Or Lady Well' on his 'Scotia Regnum' map of the same year; but that name is attached to a site on the WEST side of Jura, and so is unlikely to be an alternative name for Tobar Challuim-chille, which is on the east side of the island.
