Notes
This 'chapel' appears to be a figment of the nineteenth-century imagination, first appearing as an assertion by the minister in 1845 (NSA x, 766). There is some doubt as to whether or not there was a chambered cairn or a corn-drying kiln at this site, but archaeologists do not suspect the existence of a chapel. The name given (e.g. on OS 6 inch 1st edn in 1867) may have arisen from a misunderstanding or garbling of Sanct Eunan's (i.e. St Adomnán's), or *Cill Eonáin ('Adomnán's Church'), or something of the sort.
