Notes
A Valliscaulian priory was founded here in 1230; it was transferred as a cell of Beauly (Cistercian) in 1510 (Watt, Fasti, 10), at which time a scheme of reconstruction had been under way. After the Reformation part of the priory was converted into a dwelling house while the priory church was used as the parish kirk. A new parish kirk was erected in 1731-32 (NMRS). There is an Early Christian cross-slab here, but it may have been brought here from elsewhere. OS Digimap shows Ardchattan House, built out of the priory buildings in the sixteenth century.
