Notes

In 1504 this chapel was mentioned as lying in the parish of Paisley. This suggests that the boundary between Paisley parish and Neilston parish has moved. It may be that the Levern Water, on whose north-west side (i.e. the Paisley side) this chapel lies, was the medieval parish boundary. The boundary is now 0.75 miles NW of the well, placing the well firmly in Neilston parish. See NMRS for further historical notes and discussion of the site and its remains (Canmore ID 42998).
