Notes

NMRS records a tradition of this as a holy well, dedicated to Connell, Conval or Conual. It is lined with rubble masonry. Note that in 1504 Capella Sancti Conalli is said to be situtated in Paisley parish. This might suggest that the adjacent well was in Paisley parish too, and that the medieval parish boundary between Paisley and Neilston (in which both now lie) was the Levern Water, on whose NW side (i.e. the Paisley side) both chapel and well lie.
