Parish notes
A free parsonage in Bagimond, the church is not to be confused with the chapel of Pentland, which appears in various grants to Holyrood and is rather to be identified with St Catherine’s in the Hopes q.v. (Bag. 56; Holyrood Liber nos. 59, 76-7). The church continued as an independent parsonage until 1477, when on the erection of the collegiate church of Roslin at the instance of William earl of Orkney and Caithness, it was conceded that the church should be united to the college on the death of the then parson, and its fruits distributed amongst the canons (Rot. Scot. i, 25; RS, 747, 75-6). See also Midl. Chrs. xcviii & Cowan 1967, 163 for more details and refs..
