The NGR is for Dunbar parish kirk, referred to in medieval sources as St Beya's Collegiate Church. Excavcations nearer to the centre of Dunbar have revealed a long-cist cemetery NT678791) near the castle. NMRS records: 'Limited excavation was undertaken on this site in advance of development. A long cist and inhumation cemetery was uncovered, comprising 25 long cist burials, and 19 inhumations. Long cist cemeteries usually date between the 4th to 9th centuries AD.'
