The hill or 'cnoc' gives its name to nearby Knockangle Point. It stands at the south end of a very long sandy beach, Traigh Mhòr, and at the north end of another beach (though less extensive). A long cist was discovered here in 1969, inserted into the highest point of the cnoc, probably dated to the early Christian period (NMRS).
