Is linear feature?

NGR is where the Connel Burn flows into the Nith. Note canalisation across mosses, so probably not original place of disboguing. It may be wondered whether originally the Connel Burn formed the boundary between Cumnock and Kirkconnel. It is generally stated that New Cumnock was carved out of Old Cumnock, but the topography, this burn name, and also the name of the settlemnt of Meikle Creoch (< G crioch, border?) at NS600139 might suggest otherwise. The burn has spawned a cluster of subsequent names, e.g., Connelburn (S), Connelburn Bridge, Connel park, and Connelburn Rig.
