Notes
Kilhenzie Castle is noted as a ruin on the grounds of Kilhenzie on OS 6" 1st edn; the name Kilhenzie Castle has since been attached to the whole steading. There is a significant cluster of related names attached to Kilhanzie: Kilhenzie Burn(NS306080); Kilhenzie Wood (NS308085); Back Hill of Kilhenzie (NS305085). We should no doubt presume a lost ecclesiastical site related to this place-name (see Kilhenzie, ~eccles.) The place looks to have been a secular dwelling from at least the late middle ages.
