Notes
NGR for 'Chapel (remains of)' beside Kilnmaichle Chapelton, OS 6 inch map. If the settlement-name Kilnmaichlie is derived from G cill, 'church, chapel', this is the likely site of the cill in question, close to Chapelton of Kilnmaichlie and Shenval (sean-bhaile, 'old farm') of Kilnmaichlie. Watson (1926, 326) thought that this probably was a cill-name, but could not identify the saint whose name formed the specific. See Kilnmaichlie, setlement, for early forms of the name.
