Notes

A street in the town of Castle Douglas. It is presumably the origin of 'St Andrews Station', a railway station on OS 6 inch 1st edn (1843 x 1882). It no longer exists; nor does the railway which it once served. One is tempted to suggest that the street took its name from St Andrews Church, NX763619, which still exists but has been converted into the Lochside Theatre. However, St Andrew Street is shown on OS 6 inch 1st edn, and on that map the church is not shown at all, the site on which it now stands being occupied by fields. The street-name precedes the existence of the church.
