The chapel is referred to in circa 1630 thus: '1/2 myl thence Castel Riwy [= Redcastle NG583495]. Item St. Andrews Chappel wher ther is a fair about Lammes [i.e. Lammas, 1st August]'. The NGR given for the chapel is that of the castle, on the assumption that this chapel was attached to the castle.
