Notes
The name is derived from that of Michael Irvine, a publican of the nineteenth century, who kept what must have been a very popular bar at 'St Michael's Inn' (as it appears on OS 6 inch 1st edn, in 1855) (St Andrews Kirk Session, 69 n.3). Nearby OS maps show derived names St Michael's Wood, St Michael's Children's Home, St Michael's Golf Club. For further discussion see Taylor with Márkus iv, 540-1.
