NGR is for the approximate centre of the scatter of islands which forms this dispersed parish. ScotlandsPlaces says of this parish: 'A parish in Inverness-shire between 1891 until 1975. Before 1891 it was partly in Inverness-shire and partly Argyll. It was sometimes known as Eigg and Canna parish, and included the islands of Canna, Eigg, Sanday, Rhum, Muck, and Hyskier. A medieval parish and a parish for civil and religious purposes from the sixteenth century until 1975.'
