Parish notes
St Madoes - dedicated to St Mo Aedóc (pace Watson) confusion also because A. Dunlop misidentifies ‘De Sancto Mathoco’ with Kilmahog - but it is in fact St Madoes (1275). Most famous is St M. of Ferna in Leinster - the other great Leinster saint besides Brigit. late 6th c.. Frees soul of King Brandubh of Leinster (dies 605). This story is also told in Culdee Rule. Feastday - Jan.31. But note that under March 23, Oengus has ‘My Maedóc Alba’s treasure’ (mind nAlban). In 1891 a detached part of Kinnoul KNU was transferred to St Madoes viz lands of Inchyra.
