Parish notes
In origin a chapel of Ednam, which had been granted to Durham c.1105. The revenues had been devoted to the uses of Coldingham by c.1150, although confirmations continue to be made to the monks of Durham. A vicarage had been erected before 1232 and it appears to have attained full parochial status during the thirteenth century (Cowan 1967, 188).
