Notes
Sedes Sancti Morgani ('St Morgan's Seat') is attested as an object on the marches of an estate called Morgunessete, in that estate's boundary description in the late twelfth century (Fraser 'Melville', iii no. 8). It appears that the parish of Muiravonside gets its name from the estate of Morgunessete, which in turn got its name from the Scots name of the boundary-marker, which was Latinised in the charter as Sedes Sancti Morgani.
