The church had been annexed by 1275 to Holywood abbey, with whom the parsonage teinds continued at the Reformation, while one of the abbey’s canons appears to have normally served the vicarage (Bag. p. 100; Ass. 271; Reg. of Pres., i, 11; PRO 31/9-33 Diversorum, Paul IV 1557-8 - Jan. 1558).
