Notes

NGR is for the site given by NMRS for the now vanished church of Wester Upsetlington, an area called Chapel Round, standing in Chapel Park. Though Cowan (1967, 204) says that Wester Upsettlington became part of Hutton parish, in fact this site lies now in the parish of Ladykirk.

Parish notes

Cowan notes: 'The lands of Wester Upsetlington appear to have pertained to the bishops of Durham from an early period ... The revenues of the church, which was evidently accounted to lie outwith the kingdom of Scotland, pertained to the bishops until the mid-fourteenth century when the lands, and with the the church and its teinds, were again incorporated into the diocese of St Andrews' (1967, 205).
