NGR for Halkirk Old Parish Church. According to NMRS Halkirk parish church was built in 1753 on the site of an old chapel, whose ruins were still visible when the new church was built (citing OS Name Book 1872). According to the Third Report of the Commission of Religious Instruction, Scotland (Edinburgh, 1837), concerning this parish, 'At one time it was called the united Parish of St Fergus and St Thomas, and now the united parish of Halkirk and Skinnan, or Skinnet' (p. 252).
